The BFFs.

From now on Pudgy and Hazel are to be known as the BFFs. They stick together, especially since the other hens pick on them (especially the Pride and Prejudice twins Lizzie and Jane.)

They suffer separation anxiety if they lose sight of each other for more than 2 seconds. Hazel was starting to get nervy until she looked behind her and saw Pudgy to the left.

Phew! There she is!

I don’t let the chickens out to free range until they’ve laid their eggs for the day. This is hard on the BFFs, because they’re still too young to lay eggs. Sometimes I let them out early if they suggestively hang around the gate. Bertie just wants to get in and see if the gerls have left any interesting kitchen scraps. Dogs have little subtlety…

Maybe in a month or so the BFFs will be earning their keep, just like Buffy.

I’ve noticed out of our two white leghorns and two Silkies there is one of each with separation anxiety when the other is hidden….or fraternising with the ‘others’ *snort*.
