Blue bun nuts.

The drought has broken!!!!

Look! One blue egg along with a normal brown one. Yay!

I saw this recipe for Nicoise Salad this morning so this might be what David18 and I have for dinner. I’m out doing a demo this afternoon so something light and fresh (that David18 can prepare… heh heh) will be Just The Thing.

One last thing I found this morning; a very good short video clip on why chefs use the thermomix. Good for the foodies to have a look at. And Scott too, because judging by his last comment he has plenty of time to sit and watch it!

The eggs are impressive but I am just loving Bertie in the background. Time for Chester in a year or so once the others are a bit older. As for watching the clip – I’ll try and get to it this year!

I have never, ever, seen a blue chook egg before today.

We bought some Araucanas about 3 weeks ago, and got a blue egg about 2 weeks ago. None since. The lady that sold them to us said they had just been through their first moult (started early, in January), and that they wouldn’t lay again until there were 16 hours of sunlight. I’m guessing we’ll just get one here and there until spring time. She also said if you put a light bulb in their house, that’ll speed things up. We don’t have electricity in out chookhouse, so we think we’ll let nature take it’s course. Can’t wait to have a fridge full of blue eggs!

Don't be shy... say something!
