I’m going on an excursion!

(Picture from here.)

Life is pretty frantic here at the moment, so my blogging time is limited. I’m still reading the blogs on my feed reader, but actual writing time seems to have shrunk somewhat in the last few weeks. I’m missing this little space; maybe I’ll just have to get up earlier to write?

This morning I was reading a ‘new-to-me’ blog and saw this post about a thermomix apricot slice recipe. It’s worth clicking through even if you don’t have a thermie because it’s easily adapted to 20th century cooking (haha!) and she also talks about how and why she loves her thermomix a lot more articulately than I have here. (I’m hamstrung a bit, being a consultant, because I don’t want to turn this blog into an advertorial, but I love Uma so!)

Anyway, here’s the link.

Today I’m going to the Melbourne Aquarium with a couple of classes of year 8s. One class I don’t know, so I’ll be in charge of 8E. They’re my ‘wriggly puppies’ class so it should be a lot of fun. The weather forecast looks like it’ll be a gorgeous Spring day so I’m looking forward to it. That’s the good thing about being a teacher – every now and then your work day is varied and you get to see and do things you normally wouldn’t. I haven’t been to the Aquarium since I took my own kids when they were early/pre primary school kids.

Then I’m coming back to jump in the car and go off and do a cooking class in Mt Waverley in the evening. Worth coming along to if you have a spare evening. I’m making the sorbet and the dip!

In a dollop of garden news, the chooks have passed the 400 egg level this calendar year. (425 to be exact.) Now that the weather’s warming up I’m expecting big things from these gerls. I’d better use up some of the eggs though. The boys have stopped eating fried eggs after school so I now have around 3 dozen eggs in the fridge. Must get onto that.

Now I’m off to bake some biscuits for the boys’ recess (Evan15 made the dough for me last night, bless his little cotton socks) and then I’ll water some plants and head off to work. It’s my birthday on Thursday, (I’m celebrating by doing a demo, as you do), and then school holidays in three weeks…. can’t wait!
