Skinflint Sunday: Don’t hire a landscaper! Get the boys to do it!

“Boys! You’re spending too much time on the computer! Get out there and start clearing away weeds and things for when we get the front fence painted and the new garden put in,” I said.

Apparently “weeds” is code for “agapanthus clumps.” Not a single weed was harmed in two days of them working here.
I didn’t think it was possible for my front yard to look any worse, but clearly I was wrong.

Thermomix recipe: Tim Tam fudge. It’s Australia Day tomorrow, so what better?

  1. Urspo says:

Boys are very good at getting things tidied up; I read it in JAMA.

  2. Kelly says:

That could be their strategy, you know……

  3. ginger megs says:

I have learnt the hard way that boys need very specific instructions to do something they don’t really want to do – pull out that one, leave these ones, pull out the roots not just the stuff you can see, put the debris over there. It’s sort of like following the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law.

  4. Ellen says:

Boys do seemto have the knack of being ‘helpful’ in such a way, that they know you won’t ask again! Poor agapanthus, I love them.

  5. Isabelle says:

Agapanthus – in my garden – are very treasured plants. I can’t imagine their being weeds! You may admire mine when you come!

Don't be shy... say something!
